The  Legionnaire of the Year, 2007-2008 was awarded to GEORGE G. WALLACE,lll at the membership meeting August 21, 2008 at Folks restaurant. The selection was made by then Commander Mike Sarris who presented George with a  Legionnaire of the Year Certificate and cap pin. George joined our post in November 2007 commenting that he "needed something to do". In early spring George learned that we had flag drop boxes nearly refurbished and voluneered to complete the job not knowing it would not stop there. We need locations to set up the 2 heavy boxes and he got to work with the result that he finally set these up(by himself!)in May at Woodstock City Hall and Woodstock Community Church. George also volunteered to collect the flags and in a month or two had some 300 flags! He felt we needed to have a formal ceremony and almost single handedly arranged the very successful Flag Retirement Ceremony held August 15th at the Woodstock City Park.  By then we had collected some 500 flags in just 3 short months!! (Details of that ceremony in article below) Because of George's dedication and committment to advancing the visibility of our post to the community it was an easy selection to make. George has displayed the spirit of a true veteran legionnaire still serving his community. He has in the past and will be a valuable asset to our post in the future. CONGRATULATIONS GEORGE!
