Our post wishes to thank all of our members who have been faithful in maintaining their active status in the “world’s largest veteran organization”. The dues generated by your continued membership help promote and sustain  core programs from National all the way down to the local post level and without these dues many of these programs would be curtailed or eliminated. However in many situations involving small upstart post such as ours and the fact we do not have a post home we have little opportunity to put on fund raisers to enhance our funds. We are here for a purpose- to help needy veterans and perform other community functions that further enhances our worth to our communities.

Here is the pitch: The portion of the dues ($5.00) allocated to our post is minimal and cannot sustain our mission. For many of us the only “contribution” we make to the Legion is the $25.00 annual dues which is all we really can expect and certainly is appreciated . In return you receive publications (magazines, newsletter, etc) and the opportunity to join in activities with you fellow veterans- and not to mention the prestige of belonging to a top notch national veterans’ organization! How many members know that it was the American Legion that sponsored and led the initiative for Congress to pass the GI Bill of Rights back in 1944. How many of our members have availed themselves of obtaining GI Home Loans, financial assistance for College and more? We'll say many, many.

You guessed it. We humbly ask that each of you consider making a donation- any amount- large or small and mail to American Legion Post 316, PO Box 496, Woodstock, Ga. 30188. We need your help!  And we thank you in advance for your care and concern.
