UPDATE ON LEANNE LIVINGSTON:

Boy! Are we proud of our young lady! Leanne on Feb 28th won the 9th District oratorical contest competing against 5 others. And now Leanne will be competing at the State level come March 21 after having won the Area 3 contest on March 7th. What  stunning performances she gave and we honestly believe she can capture the state crown and participate in the National competition in April.

GOOD LUCK, LEANNE!!

Here are some added photos of the recent events

Leanne Livingston gave a very inspiring speech on the constitution and won the 9th District contest on Feb 28 and will advance to the area competion on March 7th. Congratulations to Leanne and good luck! (We'll report back with the results of that contest so come back and visit this site)

Our Post Oratorical contest for 2009 has now been completed and those in attendance were treated to  outstanding performances by two outstanding students whom we believe will advance in the program, if not this year but surely in years to follow.

The Chairman of the Oratorical contest, Charles Denmark did an outstanding job in putting together this program in his first go at it. Cmdr Tucker did his usual good job in directing the meeting and program. And a special thanks to our  judges, the Mayor of Woodstock, the Honorable Donnie Henriques, Councilman Bud Leonard,  Greg Michael, pastor of the Woodstock Community Church  and to Betty the director of the Woodstock Community Center and for arranging the contest to be held at this wonderful facility

Now for the awards: Leanne Livingston, a home schooler took first place and was awarded a certificate and presented with a $100.00 check. Leanne will now move to the District competition to be held at Post 201 Alpharetta, Feb 28th at 1:00PM. Post members are welcomed to attend and watch and hear the competition of outstanding contestants.

Second place was given to Hunter Hurst of Kings Academy and a Cadet in the Army Jr.ROTC at Kings Academy and serves on the Honor Guard as well. He received a  check for $50.00 for second place. We expect Hunter to move up in the competition in the coming years as he is only a freshman!

Congratulations to the our contestants and good luck in future events!
